The English photographer, draughtsman, painter and sculptor, Derek Boshier studied painting and lithography at the Yeovil School of Art in Somerset (1953-57), the Guildford College of Art (1957-59) and the Royal College of Art (1959-62) where he was one of the students most closely linked to Pop Art. After a period in India during which he produced paintings strongly influenced by Indian symbolism and then having returned to England where he adopted an essentially geometrical style, Boshier briefly moved into sculpture, producing elementary forms in acrylic and neon. He returned largely to painting in 1979 and, in 1980, began teaching in Houston, Texas.
