Biography
British painter and sculptor, born in Sheffield. Between 1965 and 1966, he studied at the Sheffield School of Art; between 1966 and 1969 at the Camberwell School of Art and, from 1969 to 1972, at the Royal Academy, in London. While still a student, he began painting monochromatic canvases in grey and, in 1972, exhibited these first works at the Conrad Fischer Gallery, in Dusseldorf. In 1982, he took part in Documenta 7 in Kassel and, in 1991, he had one-man shows at Krefeld, Esters and Haus Lange. Despite being subject to permanent variation, his grey canvases are presented according to a rigorous geometry, forming a homogeneous pictorial field.
