Biography
Born in Nantes, where he lives. Since 1990 he has taught at the l'École de Beaux Arts d'Angers. During the 80s he was a reference painter, paying particular attention to the materiality of painting. Having lived in Africa, and using his experience of sculpture and engraving, he worked for years with wood. After his stay in Villa Médicis in 1991, Cognée was to develop a new research technique, using paint and wax. Recent solo exhibitions: 1998-99 "Prolifération", Galerie Laage-Salomon "Prolifération", Chapelle du Genêteil, Château-Gontier. Group exhibitions: 1998 Dessins et Gravures, Galerie Laage-Salomon, Paris, 1995 200 Oeuvres acquises par le FNAC depuis 1992, Centre d'Art Contemporain de Grenoble.
