North-American photographer, born in Washington. Goldin had her first solo exhibition in 1973, in England. She moved to New York in 1978. From the start, Goldin's photography has focused on the theme of human condition, sort of "visual diary". Sexuality and self-reflection, eroticism and the subtle shadings of gender, the effects of time on the appearance and bearing are her subjects. In the eighties has known immediate fame because of the powerful impact of her images with a series of about 700 slides with musical accompaniment called The Ballad of Sexual Dependency, "the diary I let people read", the artist said. She's obsessed with taking control of her own personal history, with preserving memory from the ravages of time: her work and her life are locked together. She received numerous awards and a DAAD scholarship to Berlin. 1996-1999 she had shows at the Whitney Museum New York, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, between others.
