Biography
British painter born in Sheffield, Yorkshire. From 1948-52 studied at Royal College of Art. 1952-53 studied and exhibited in Italy on Abbey Major Scholarship. 1956 represented Britain at the XXVIII Venice Biennale. 1957 Prizewinner, John Moore's. In 1956 included in John Berger's Looking Forward exhibition at the Whitechapel South London Art Gallery. In 1958 first one-person exhibition, of several, at the Zwemmer Gallery 1960 included in a Guggenheim Selection; 1963 participated in British Painting in the 60's exhibition at the Whitechapel Art Gallery; 1964 Carnegie International exhibition, Pittsburgh; 1969 and 71 One man exhibiton at the Institute of Contemporary Art; 1973 retrospective exhibition at the Whitechapel Art Gallery: 1977 participated in British Painting 1952-77 at the Royal Academy; 1983 Greaves was head of print making at Norwich College of Art; 1984 The forgotten Fifties, Graves Art Gallery, Sheffield; 1988 participated in Exhibition Road at the Royal College of Art.
