Biography
Japanese artist, born in Tokyo and living in New York City. She studied at Chelsea College of Art in London, among other places. At the beginning of her career she was a model and a designer. Mori includes in her installations video, photography, performance, fashion, high technology and intimate drawings inspired on both eastern and western art and religion, using herself as a model sometimes. Her work combine the spiritual and science. Solo exhibitions (selection): 1996 Centre national d'art contemporain de Grenoble; 1997 Dallas Museum of Art; 1998 Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Los Angeles county Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, Serpentine Gallery, London; 1999 Brooklyn Museum of Art, Fondazione Prada, Milan, Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg. She received an award for young artists at the Venice Biennale in 1997.
