American painter who studied at New York University and the California Institute of Arts in Valencia between 1971 and 1973. He took also a M.A. in Fine Arts. His first exhibition was organised by Mary Boone Gallery, in New York, in 1975. His paintings are characterised by stripes broken by patches colour and ornamental elements, strictly geometrical. This kind of painting is connected to Op Art. Later, he held exhibitions in London, Cologne, and Tokyo and, in 1988, he was present at the BiNationale in Boston and Dusseldorf. Bleckner uses diverse materials, like fire, wax, and varnish to produce hallucinatory effects. Expansion and contraction are, for this artist, the two basic movements of artistic creation.
