Biography
Poet, collagist, theorician and happening, performance artist. Born in France, Neuilly-sur-Seine, he spent part of his childhood in New York where we got acquainted with Marcel Duchamp and André Breton. In the large international events, happenings and art actions that he organised in Paris, Milan, Venice and New York - Anti-Process (1960-61), The Festival of Free Expression (1964-67), Polyphonix (1979-88), War on war (1982) - he always brought together exhibitions of painting, cinema or video, poetry in all its forms, the most diverse music. He published in 1966 an essay about the happening. He worked with Oldenburg, Kaprow, Kudo, Errò, Paik, Filliou, etc. In the seventies he traveled in the United States with Deleuze and Guattari, and met Allen Ginsberg, whose writings he translated into French.. His “Monument to Antonin Artaud”, 1959, could be seen at the exhibition “Paris, Capital of Art 1900-1968” at Royal Academy of Arts, London and Guggenheim Bilbao, 2002. In 1998 participed with Dick Higgins and Pierre Restany at Art/Action Colloque in Quebec City, Canada. In 2000, he had a retrospective in Fondazione Morra, Naples and Fondazione Mudima in Milan.
