Portuguese photographer born in Lisbon, where he lives. Studied
philosophy and had his first individual exhibition in 1977. From 1987 Jorge Molder developed the theme of self-representation, frequently in series of photographs, each one with a specific title, emphasizing the ambiguity shown in the way he represents himself. These series present fictional characters, a kind of game which rules are established beforehand. Molder was the Portuguese representative to the Venice Biennale 1999.
