Born in Barcelona, Spain, Alejandro Obregon moved to Barranquilla, Colombia, as a child, He studied at the Boston School of fine Arts in 1939 then returned to Barcelona as Vice Consul for Colomb ia. When he returned to Bogotá in 1944, he taught at the School of Fine arts and was the director in 1948. He moved to Barranquilla in 1956 with frequent trips back to France, where he lived from 1949 to 1954. In the early 1970s he moved to Cartagena, Colombia. His paintings reflect an abstract in formalist style and has focused on Latin american subjects sucj as volcanos, condors, tropical flora and sea life.
