Domingo Ramos was born in Guines, located at 52 kms from Havana, the Cuban capital, where he developed part of his artwork., When he was 15 years old he travelled to Madrid where he had several occupations without abandoning his vocation as a painter a obtaining his degree at the School of Fine Arts.
In 1927, back in Cuba, he was a member of the Direction of the School “San Alejandro”, until 1931, when he was appointed deputy professor of the Artistic Anatomy Dept., and later was promoted to Director.
In his work as a painter his land and marine landscapes are notorious.
Domingo Ramos was connected to the Cuban culture in different ways, he was a member of the Arts and Letters Acadely of la Havana, of the Royal Academy of Cadyz, Spain, and of the Royal Society of London. He has also collaborated in the decoration of works that are part of the state property, like the Presidencial Palace and the National Capitol
