Biography
French painter who became known in 1977 with his series All over, in which multicolored trails of paint, produced with a specially fine brush, form arabesques all over the canvas. 1979 First solo exhibition at the Galerie Lucien Durand, in Paris. 1986 Further exhibitions at the Maison de la Culture in St. Etienne and in the Villa Medici in Rome. Frize can be seen as a representative of aleatoric art. He used new subversive methods and unusual materials in his attempts to let painting produce itself through the medium of chance.
