Biography

Art critic and writer, he has been active as a painter since the late 1950s. His painting was developed upon the idea of great thematic cycles, such as the series named "Vita di Voltaire", "Color & Co.", "Profughi", "Città italiane", "Oltremare", "II ballo dei filosofi", "Nature morte" and "Fiabe." Tadini’s painting technique features a fascinating interplay of time dimensions, where memory and reality, tragedy and comedy are constantly evoking one another. Tadini held several one-man shows abroad (Paris, Stockholm, Brussels, London, Antwerp, North and South America) where his work has been exhibited extensively, both in private art galleries and public spaces and museums. In 1978 and 1982 he has been invited to participate in the Venice Biennale. Beginning from Autumn 1995 until Summer 1996, a wide retrospective exhibition has travelled through Germany, touching the cities of Stralsund, Bochum and Darmstadt. In 1997 he was appointed chairman of the Accademia di Brera in Milan, until 2000. In 2001 the city of Milan, his hometown, paid him homage with an important retrospective exhibition held at Palazzo Reale. In the last few years, Tadini has been a regular contributor to Corriere della Sera.
