French painter. Between 1931 and 1932, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lille and in Paris. Between 1936 and 1956, he travelled to Brussels and Amsterdam to study the work of Rembrandt and Malevich and later to Italy, where he was fascinated with the work of Bellini and Giorgine.
