Biography
Born in Lisbon, Portuguese painter and filmmaker, as well as architect graduated in Painting at the Fine Arts School of Lisbon (ESBAL). First one-man exhibition, 1967, in Quadrante Gallery. In 1969 participated at the X Sao Paulo Bienal and received the Critic’s Prize Soquil. In 1970 takes part in the Portuguese Pavillion in the XXXIV Venice Biennale; Selection of one-man exhibitions: 1973 e 1976 Galeria Christoph Dürr, Munich; 1973 Portuguese Cultural Centre, Paris (with Eduardo Nery); 1975 French Cinématheque, Paris; 1983 Rencontre Gallery, Brussels, 2003-04 Centro Cultural de Belém, Lisbon. Selection of group exhibitions: 1970 "Alternativa Zero"; 1978 “Portuguese Art Since 1910”, London; 1986 “Le XXème au Portugal”, Brussels. 1983 and 2002 Retrospective exhibitions, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
